#HBIBREVIEWS: Archie’s

When I heard this place was opening up in Birmingham I was over the moon. I have been to their Manchester branches over a dozen times and personally think their milkshakes are one of the best I have tasted.

The excitement was real but was quickly deflated after I realised the Selfridges branch only did desserts. So after a quick stop at Pizza Express for some food the Archies Birmingham experience began.

Food: I went for my standard Ferrero Roche with my brother going for his favourite also the “Amir Khan” which is a mix of Aero Mint and some bananas. With my sister and Dad sharing a strawberry Waffle. We were all very impressed. It tasted just like it does in Manchester and there is no need to travel up the M6 for it. Nice and thick with the pieces not too chunky. The waffle was crispy with the right amount of Nutella and their whippy ice cream always does the trick. I am hopeful they will somehow bring food to this spot also. Has to be a 9/10

Service/Price: The guys and girls working their are very friendly and were happy to wait while we decided. They looked very professional which is needed in a place like Selfridges. Looked overstaffed if anything, hopefully words spreads and they get some more customers to keep the staff busy. Due to the location the prices are more than I would expect but thats what you need to pay for the central location and the rent that Selfridges brings. 8/10

Location: The branch is located inside the Selfridges food hall so if you are craving a late night milkshake this is a no go. However during the summer browsing through city centre I can definitely see myself popping in for a milkshake or a waffle. Have a look at the opening times below 5/10

Overall: I am disappointed there is no food but I loved my milkshake and the waffle went down well. Others have said there milkshake was not as good as the one in Manchester but this may be pot luck in terms of the person who makes your milkshake. Give it a go as the milkshakes in Birmingham have been slowly going downhill and I am glad Archie’s have ventured down south. 7.5/10
