#HBIBEATS – Charlie’s Kitchen

Red Couch had the halal Birmingham breakfast market in a monopoly. However as the years have progressed more and more places have opened with TruBurger being at the top of the tree.

In Lozells following a rebrand of the iEat branch, Charlie’s Kitchen is a chip shop with a cafe twist. Breakfast is served from 8am on weekdays and from 9am on weekends. This is not like TruBurger with fancy brunches, this is more of a spot to compete with Red Couch. The prices are very reasonable with a Big Breakfast coming in at £5.45 (2 toast,2 hash browns, 2 sausages, 2 turkey rashers, 2 eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato). Now that is a lot of food and cheaper than Red Couch.

This place will not wow you with the quality. It’s a very friendly cafe type atmosphere. The staff are friendly and you always see a local face pop in which is nice. The sausage and rashers were quite nice, beans tasted a bit on the cheaper side but the eggs were cooked nicely. The picture below is the veggie breakfast which my friend opted for.

There is parking outside and the place can get busy between 11am – 2pm so be prepared to wait. There are other desi options here which I have not yet tried.

OVERALL: Nice friendly place to visit when you want a filling breakfast. This has become a regular for me and with the addition of some desi tea why not! 7/10
