#HBIB Review: Ibrahims Grill: Fast Food
On Valentines it was tough picking a place as me and a male friend did not want to be surrounded by couples or people giving us awkward looks in a Restaurant. I had a lightbulb moment and realised Ibrahims Grill (based in Acocks Green) had opened a sister restaurant much closer to home in Small Heath on Green Lane and was hoping it would not be as busy and I was right!
For a “fast food” restaurant the place was decorated quite well and I was glad it was somewhere I could sit comfortably and have a good catch up with my mate. It is definitely the place that would be suitable for groups of friends with a private room available for families also.
Food: The menu has been tamed down compared to Ibrahims flagship restaurant in Acocks Green however they have announced this week they will be introducing steaks at their Green Lane branch also. The menu has a good variety of things but today was a burger day and we opted for the Peri Peri burger and the Classic beef burger and a side of Buffalo wings with Sheesh Kebabs to share.
The wings were gorgeous, just like the main restaurant they were cooked to perfection and a good size for an appetiser before the main. The sheesh kebabs were equally as good, nicely cooked with some fried onions to top them off which is always a winner!
But lets get to the burgers and I have to say I was very impressed nice piece of chicken cooked well of good size. The actual patty could have had a bit more taste to it but was a good solid burger. The chips were cooked well not too soft and the oil was not old so definitely went down a treat with the extra crunch! My friend enjoyed his Beef burger and was keen on coming again to try out other things. The brioche bun that was served was ok but I am old school in the sense I just like a nice english bap to go with my slab of meat in a burger.
A special mention has to go to the special sauces they provide to go with the meal, I loved the Moroccan sauce however there are some other favourites which the guys gave us to try but the Moroccan was definitely the one for me. This definitely added to the meal and is an area a lot of food places overlook. 7/10
Service and Atmosphere: The boys who worked there were very professional and had some great ideas on what we could order however at times a bit over kill on trying to get us to spread the word, if the food is good trust me people will shout about it automatically hence this post.
The decor was awesome, a different feel to the Acocks Green restaurant a bit more chilled out and hipster i think but I really liked it. Somewhere you could feel at ease with friends or family. 9/10
Overall: I was very happy with the burgers, yes they could have a bit more flavour packing in them but for a newly established business they were decent and the starters set up the meal very well. The guys working there are engaging and always happy to help out and honestly a very decent all round place. This place has the potential to be my go to place and with the steaks coming there is no need to travel to Acocks Green anymore.. a well deserved 8/10
